It’s been a long journey making this album. It’s been fun, hysterical, wonderful, fulfilling, nerve-racking, painful, scary and tough at the same time. I wanted to make it sound like me. Like it comes directly from my heart and that whoever listens to it will understand who I am. I’m pretty sure I succeeded with that and that feels just great!
It’s an album filled with emotions. There’s lots of happiness in it but also lots of frustration, anger and sadness. My mood is like a roller coaster and you can tell that by the songs. “Princess Of Fall” for instance, is a very joyful and longing song with lots of energy, while songs like “Lullaby” and “Give Me Your Attention” are more relaxed and thoughtful. Then there’s the intimate song “I Want To Make Out” and the frustrated song “Lost In Love”. I tie it all up with a few crazy ones, like “Another Way” and “I Wonder Where You Are” and of course, some moral standards in “All About Trust” and blooming warm love in “Hey Hey Hey” and “I’m Asking Quite Gently”.
So, what have we got? Joy, longing, energy, relaxed, thoughtful, intimate, frustrated, crazy, moral, warm, blooming, love… Will that make your day? I know it makes mine. Each one of them.
What do I want to tell you with these songs? Basically I want to tell you who I am and share with you my thoughts and feelings about the world and about my self. Want to get to know me? Listen to my album! Give me your attention! It’s all about trust and life isn’t over till I’m done. I do it in another way, like the princess of fall. Hey, hey, hey, maybe I’m lost in love and just want to make out, so I’m asking quite gently because I wonder where you are. It’s like a lullaby. Are you with me?
“All About Trust” is me trying to convince myself that love isn’t just about casual relations and sex. It’s about trust, patience, personality and… love. It’s about being able to be your self without disguise, and feel good about it. I wrote it in the kitchen. It’s my favourite on the album. That’s why it’s number one. My friends disagree though.
“Princess Of Fall” is a story about a man walking through the forest to get back to his princess. The Princess Of Fall. He’s been lost in the summer, the spring and the winter, but all he wants is the autumn and it’s lovely princess. No, I really don’t know but it’s a nice story. The lyrics were in Swedish first but now I don’t even remember the words.
“Lost In Love” is a song about not knowing whether to break it up or continue fighting. About being scared to make the wrong decision. Will I regret it? How will it feel? I want to eat the cookie and still have it. This is the oldest song on the album and the one I recorded first. I like the heaviness about it. That’s really my style.
“I Want To Make Out”. Sometimes we’re all in that mood, I think. You just want to grab that one special person and make out. To be close to someone and just let it all out. Go with the feelings, with the urge, the temptation. Take the chance! This was my favourite song for a long time but then I changed my mind. I still like it a lot though.
“Hey Hey Hey” is about being left alone, not knowing what to do, where to go. I want you back and I’m not going to settle for anyone else! You poisoned me with your love. My dear friend Britta Therén helped me a lot with this song. She sings and plays the accordion. Her 2nd line that floats in to the melody in the end was her own idea and I think it’s genius, what a lady!
“I’m Asking Quite Gently” is a sweet story about someone who falls in love with his best friend but doesn’t dare to tell her. I cried rivers when I wrote this one. I guess I’m the sentimental type sometimes. Hope it gets to you too.
“Give Me Your Attention”. The title really tells the story itself. Hey, look at me, here I am, I exist, I love you, I want you to be mine, can’t you tell? This was one of the first songs I wrote for the album.
“I Never Wanted Anybody Else” is about regretting breaking up. You could say it’s a follow up to “Lost In Love”. It was the trickiest one to record but in the end I got it right.
“I Wonder Where You Are” is written together with my friend Peter Björklund. It’s a crazy story about unhappy love.
“Lullaby” is about alcohol. Sometimes when it’s been crazy days and everything is flying around you it’s nice to sit down and have a beer or a drink. Written in my living room.
“Another Way” is about being different, doing things your own way and not being ashamed about it. Sometimes I am, but I’m working on it. I’ve recorded several versions with different endings to this song but this one turned out to be the best.
“Life Isn’t Over Till I’m Done” is the story about my loved one who very tragically decided to end life by own hands. Of course this changed my life totally, but the core meaning of the lyrics is that I wont let it bring me down anymore and I’m not going the same way myself. My life isn’t over till I’m done. My dear friend Anna Drangel helped me out on this one. Her voice is lovely and it gives the song an extra depth. Thank you!
