Compiling songs for this live album felt a little like looking through a photo album spanning a couple of decades. Like a skilled photographer, engineer Pieter Groenveld captured a lot of special moments, many of which I''d forgotten about, that brought back some cherished memories, musical and personal”.
”… I did my first European tour in 1985 with a band called Whetstone Run, which featured Lynn Morris, Marshall Wilborn, and Lee Olsen. This tour is represented
by track #2, "The Way I Am".
”A special relationship with the Strictly Country organization developed through the years, and I released my first solo studio project, "Blinded By the Rose" for their label in 1995. These tours became an important and special part of my career, and they still are.”
”A few musical highlights and surprises that I was reminded of include the banjo playing of Doug Knecht on "Fork in the Road" and "Nashville Blues". Doug was the first banjo player in my band, and I regard him as one of the best-kept secrets in bluegrass banjo. The fine mandolin work of German bluegrasser Hendrick Arend is heard on "Ready if You''re Willin''" and "Brand New Pair of Shoes".
