Details:
Like our first recording, "A Midwinter''s Feast", this collection of Renaissance Christmas music was inspired by annual performances at the Mid-Winter Feaste, a madrigal dinner production by the Bardstown Community Theatre.
In this recording, Lorinda plays folk harp, along with Larry Green on fiddle and mandolin, Bruce Adair on classical guitar, Fred Rucker on recorders, and Rob Smith on mandolin and cello.
The selections represent traditional tunes from the English, French, Spanish, Irish, and Welsh as far back as the 11th century. Some of the tunes like Deck The Halls, Here We Come A-Wassailing, and Pat A Pan, are in current Christmas repertoire today. Others like To Drive The Cold Winter Away and Shepherd, Awake, sadly have slipped away from present play. These, and the others, are beautiful melodies that express the sentiments of the Christmas season.
