Pianist/vocalist, Shannon Thue, performs professionally throughout the Vancouver area and across Canada and the United States. She plays in various groups, including the Shannon Thue Trio, the Carman J. Price Quartet, the funk band Deep End and the traditional jazz band Mighty Aphrodite.
2007 will see her perform at festivals in Fresno, CA, Three Rivers, CA, Prosser, WA, Elkhart, IN, Mammoth Lakes, CA, Medford, OR, and San Diego, CA, and on two weeklong cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico. This year also marks the fourth year her trio has performed at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
In addition to performing, Shannon enjoys teaching, accompanying, arranging, and composing. Her first album "The Road Less Travelled" consists of mostly original material. Influences include Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, and Chick Corea.
Shannon graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies degree from Capilano College, N. Van, B.C. and was the first ever recipient of CBC/Radio Canada’s “Jazz Award of Merit” (the JAM award).
