spivey crossing came about as a result of a promise our drummer and male vocalist lucas montgomery made to play at one of our friends new years eve party in 2002, but before the time came,his band had some differences of opinion (still friends) so he called on his uncle, doye williams (acoustic guitar) and friend perry horton (guitarist) for help, along with doye''s daughter holli williams (female vocalist). from the start it just clicked, it took a while to find a bass player and another guitarist but eventually chance horton (perry''s son--guitarist) hooked up with us and then our friend kristi cooper (bass) got a crash course in bass playing and we had a band. from there we have played all over central texas from small bars to big night clubs like grahams or midnite rodeo in college station to willies place in carls corner texas, the river jam in waco, the radio free texas river float in new braunfels, several radio station gigs, parties and weddings, to the convention center in waco texas. all great fun. we have opened for people such as billy joe shaver, johnny lee,walt wilkins,sammy kershaw and shared stages with a host of texas artists. we were invited to play the northgate music festival in college station texas a great texas music festival. we have won music association of central texas''s original music act of the year in 2006, holli won female vocalist of the year in 2006 also. holli placed third in a twelve week contest put on by 92.1 ktfw out of fort worth texas for singer songwriter out of a bunch of great talent. radio free texas plays our music along with 98.3 kora bryan texas and kttx 106.1 in brenham texas. we love what we do and really love the people who support us. give us a shout on our myspace page or come see us if you get the chance, would love to meet you and will gladly answer any questions you might have. to quote doye our acoustic player "peace and hair grease"---till next time---spivey crossing band
