Details:
Sunday Drive Bye is a local Atlanta indie rock act that reaches out and touches it''s audience with a unique brand of high powered guitar driven rock with an emotional vulnerability that''s reminiscent of early 90''s alternative (Pixies, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr.) and more modern day melodic rock (Foo Fighters, Death Cab for Cutie, Pinback). There is a sincere energy that emanates from what these lads from Atlanta do and it is obvious from the first note that vibrates to your ears that deliberate care has been taken to craft an elegant yet sometimes ironically self-conscious musical creation. Original, yet never seeing the need to re-invent the wheel, most of Sunday Drive Bye''s tunes have a ready accessibility that pricks the listener''s ears with a fresh new voice.

In 2005 Sunday Drive Bye recorded and self-released a 6 song EP (Let me Know) that was mainly used for promotional purposes. With this they played all of the usual Atlanta spots such as The Earl, The Star Bar, Lenny''s, and The Drunken Unicorn, and began to garner a bit of buzz and a modest following. A few personnel changes later and with the help of Walk to Run Productions, acting with the band as a promotional and management team, they were ready to put the nose to grindstone again and do more than they had previously achieved.

Currently the band is finishing there first full length release (The Subtle Art of Overkill) and have a video already in production featuring the first single off the album, Calling Out. With this they plan to reignite interest in the group locally as well as regionally. Already, they have hit a few of the local clubs with great success and have shared the stage with several well known acts such as The Young Antiques, Luigi, Bishop Don, Dust Rabbit, The Indicators among others.

The members of Sunday Drive Bye have migrated to Atlanta from across the country. Bassist Jim Miller hails from Tampa and moved to Atlanta to work as a computer programmer a few years ago and met up with the guys when singer and guitarist Jonathan Sleep posted an add on a musician''s classified web site searching for someone for a previous group. Jim ended up being a hell of a nice guy and a hell of a bass player so Jonathan kept him on when that group disbanded and the new project started to form. Through a connection at his exciting day job, Jim introduced Quentin Hagewood, a Portland native, to the band as a possible drummer when previous drummer, Andres Galdamez (Mendoza Line), had to leave the group, and he was quickly accepted into the fold. Guitarist Travis Navarra and Jonathan had the privilege of growing up together in a suburb of Atlanta and started playing guitar when they were just wee lads. As far as Jonathan was concerned it was a no-brainer as to who the second guitarist for Sunday Drive Bye should be.

All in all, Sunday Drive Bye just wants to be seen and heard. They believe in a time when Rock was fun, guitars were loud and music made you think a little but always made you feel good. Maybe you saw a bit of yourself up there on stage and you left a show feeling like you witnessed something special. Whatever that is, these guys feel like they have it and they want to share it with you.
