Details:
In addition to Alleyne’s solo projects: Alleyne - “Alleyne” - EP (1995-1996) he was also a part of a group called Blacksunz that he and Kev formed, which consisted of local Limestone artists and members of 13. The group’s first album was called “Eklyptic Cypha” (1997) and was produced by Kev and Alleyne. It went on to sell a few hundred copies locally. Despite the slow but progressive success, most of the Blacksunz members were still taken the bus instead of pushing a Benz so they moved on.
Other than Kev and Sherrkaan , one other original member of Blacksunz named Jimmy “Temus” Mitchell stayed on board. Snagg and Kev became Steel Halo and Alleyne and Temus became, well...Alleyne & Temus.
Alleyne and Temus would later go on to record two albums “Dying To Survive” (1998) and “Off The Record” (1999). They also recorded 8 singles, some of which never made the albums, but others were recorded for various compilations, performances, etc. These singles later made it to an EP entitled B-Sidez and was released in 2002 - 2003. Alleyne & Temus performed at many local bars, venues, house parties and charities, sold CD’s and got radio play on various university/underground radio stations.
While working on “Off The Record” with Temus and Kev, Alleyne was working on his first official solo album called “Nothing Else Matters” (2000). The debut album spewed out hit after hit such as “Uptown Anthem”, “God Bless The Child”, “Yeah Yo”, “Everybody’s Free” and the title track “Nothing Else Matters”. Alleyne & Temus recorded more singles including two hits “If You Wanna...” and “What’cha Wanna Do?”, which exclusively appeared on the critically acclaimed Artefis - Alive Compilation Volume One (2001 - 2002)
