This CD includes rough tracks recorded in Steve Albini''s flooded basement in Chicago, home 4-track and DAT mixes, and a week-long recording session with Mark A Miller(R.I.P.) at Wendell Studio in Western MA. The final mix and mastering was done at West End Studio in Kansas City, MO by Paul Malinowski (SHINER) and Joel Hamilton (Player''s Club/Book of Knots), 9/9/99.
Formed in 1989, E.A.R.S.H.O.T. spent their high school years on Cape Cod, MA, formulating these songs during hundreds of shows all over the NorthEast. Quickly bored with their hardcore roots, and geeks by nature, they experimented with tape loops, field recordings, broken pianos, and home-made percussion and electronic equipment.
Members of the band wrote a lot of experimental electronic music, sometimes scoring short films or live performances for other artists in their area, and E.A.R.S.H.O.T. incorporated a great deal of this ''soundtrack'' music into live shows.
E.A.R.S.H.O.T. has played with many bands over the years: Unsane, Green Day, King Missile, Chumbawumba, Crash Worship, Alice Donut, Green Magnet School, SHIV, Glazed Baby, Holy Cow, TREE, Chilmark, Dagobah, The Laurels, Toxic Popcicle, Iowa Beef Experience, and Six Finger Satellite.
The band also ran an underground club for several years on Cape Cod known as the Googleplex, offering cheap, all-ages shows of touring bands, DJs, and movie screenings.
