"The Soul Is Within You." By Robert Lewis Jones

Mail to: Rob Jones, Eclecticist PO Box 16125, Cincinnati, Ohio 45216

I hoped that the Democrats would make it an anthem or someone who cared about my well written lyrics would latch on to it, but nothing as of yet. I even gave a copy of my album to, of all people, Al Sharpton when he visited here on his book tour almost a year ago. I wrote this song/poem well ahead of time, with the elections in mind. It says it all. If you know someone who has the power to put this in the hands of Bruce Spingsteen, or John Kerry, or Puffy Combs, or any body who is not afraid to put my song or, the words out there, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, my words are truly wasted. They have been copy protected by The Library of Congress and BMI since 2003. You may use them with my permission, on C-SPAN, or the news, or for the Kerry campaign.

The soul is within you
To make the right choice
To stand up for each other
And to lift up your voice

Don''t sit on the sidelines
Don''t fall back in your place
Because a vote for your silence
Is a curse to our race (the human race)

Disrespect for your fellow man
Is not the way to rule this land
Make it better for the little man
Make the future brighter for us all
For you and me
The soul is within you

The soul is with you
In this we all can rejoice
Ya gotta look for fairness,
Look for justice, and find the truth,
Then you make consistent noise

''Cause subtle racism is rampant
Unfair justice is the rule
Money mongers are celebrated
That''s okay if you''re a fool

Disrespect for your fellow man
Is not the way to rule this land
Make it better for the little man
Make the future brighter for us all
Brighter for us all
The soul is within you, and you, and you, and you too
Because we can all do what''s right

Stop racist practice, you need to back this
Share in the wealth, with benefits for health
Profiling no more, don''t overtax the poor
Help those who are disabled
And make our public schools strong and stable

Wheels of the world keep grinding ''round if you don''t stand up and make a simple sound
Wheels of the world keep grinding ''round if you stand up for fairness all around.

If you wait around you''ll see,
It can destroy both you and me, if you don''t do what''s right
You got these people playin'' these same okey doke games like we don''t know
Well now you know I know
We gotta all stand up
Stand up against injustice, don''t just wait for it to touch us

Please pass this along ASAP to any artists that you can. Sales are secondary to what I am trying to say in my song please ask your artists to listen to my lyrics. Publishers?
Rock the Vote?, Vote or Die? Just hear me, and don''t let my words be wasted.

Sincerely,
Rob Jones

Music with an open mind. Eclectics 101 combines R&B, and rock, with funk, and jazz. The music is a lively mix of influences. The well-written and meaningful lyrics are poignant, thought provoking, and poetic.

The CD flows nicely from song to song, thought to thought, mood to mood (mostly upbeat).

"Jazzwah" is hard edged, flowing, and consuming. It has subtle stereo guitar effects, addictive bass, and may make a rocker consider Jazz and Bebop, or vise verse.

"I''ve Heard Those Lies Before"...solid Rock.

"Freedom Keeps Marching"...Power Rock meets Funk, and ignites.

"Broken Hearted Tune (still be wanting you)" should be given classic status. It has solid lyrics, a very moving melody, and builds to a point that will reach the soft spot in even the hard-hearted among us. The only ballad on the album.

Eclectics 101 is refreshingly different, yet it breeds familiarity in the listener. Almost anyone will find it a unique, and enjoyable album. A bit of reggae, a hint of funk, real drums, real keys, bass, and guitars, in all original songs. Lyrics that are clean, and crisp, pure of thought, logical, and sensitive. The cover photo is an original late 70''s period photo, that was shot in NYC, by Rob Jones (another side of the Eclecticist''s various talents).

This CD is the essence of what independent artists bring to a world where labeling one''s art is often the biggest hurdle to conquer.
