From that day in the second grade, knowing I had won the talent show, but the trophy was given to my cousin because she was the principle’s favorite. I lived with, “I can be one of the main characters, but not the star” and basically that’s what life has been about for me working behind the scene helping everyone else rise to the top. Little did I know that God was developing me for such a time as this.
Harmony and balance is what I’ve always desired for my lifestyle. The agreement between what I think, say and do, coupled with the state of stability in which you are able to make sound judgments. I love my family that’s what’s important to me whether it’s my natural or spiritual family. I will guard them with my heart. I stayed put for years until God said, “Now Is the Time. Lena I have need of you”. That was all I needed to hear. He said, “You will begin to walk in your divine destiny”. In June 2007, on the way back from my alumni college graduation, the Lord begin to birth in me a song that “It’s A New Day, I believe in me” and then another song. After a while, song after song came to my heart and spirit. I put them to paper. Then the shock came. He said to me, “I want you to sing them.” My first reaction was no you must mean for me to let my husband or one of the sisters at the church sing them. He said again to me, “You sing them, but most of all you will be a writer of songs that I will pour into your cistern from out my divine spoken word through the Spirit”.
So here I am! I just simply said, “Ok”. My debut CD titled “It’s A New Day” came alive. I wrote all the songs and gave them to our Minister of Music, Willie Gaiter Jr. (Jr. Gaiter Productions). We sat down and I began to make the sound and tunes that I had heard in my spirit as the way each song should go and sound. He was in agreement with most of it. Being the one who could play the instrument, some things just made sense after he showed me a better way.
The CD has a traditional flavor to it. It is in my hope that everyone will find comfort and answers to situations in their lives as they listen to the words of each song. I believe that the title track could be used as an anthem to everyone’s life because it is a new day. We have the chance to do something different with it, perhaps to become better, stronger and wiser.
The CD has eight full songs with a reprise of track # 5 “Only God’s Love”, which is my favorite song. The reason being, God allowed me to express myself unconditionally so I kind of went off into a place in my soul that only He had touched and healed. This project is my personality in sound. I love different types of music, and so I took a chance to be original. At this time, I’m not a household name, but He knows my name and has given increase to this project.
I’m a Doctor of Theology, so the scriptures ring in my soul and every existence of my being. I was called to ministry in 1987 and later ordained. I have been married to Apostle Arthur L. Warrior for 26 years. Together we make right decisions over the flock at Progressive Christian Outreach Ministry, Inc. in Decatur, Alabama. Apostle Arthur L. Warrior is the Senior Pastor of the ministry. I have had to wear a many of hats in my lifetime, but there is a crown waiting for me.
In the meantime the songs on the CD describe me perfectly. “It’s A New Day” because “ There Is A Prayer” to “Move Mountains” by saying “Oh Jesus” and I know that it’s “Only God’s Love” that made old things pass away and there’s “Springtime” and when spring came I knew it was “The Joy Of The Lord” that made me say “I’ve Got Peace”. I want to say to the world it’s never too late. Stir up your gift and use it for the glory of God. My best friend Dr. Yulonda Z. Lewis of Athens, Georgia, describes me as this “A flower that grows on the side of the mountain.” She said that no matter how big the mountain, a climber will stop to see that flower that is blooming on the side of a mountain.
I haven’t signed with any one as of yet. I do desire to be on a record label. God knows where He wants to place me. “It’s A New Day” CD is coming soon to a store near you. Until then you can e-mail drlenamay@https://www.tradebit.com and CDs will be shipped to you right away.
