Over four decades of musical influences, a variety of genres, and a young heart keeps track t on top of the current music trends, from old school to new school, jazz to hip hop, r&b to gospel, and reggae. Tim started as a singer at the age of five, in chicago, illinois back in the 60''s, where street corner harmony was the in thing. He and his three brothers, kevin, maurice and gerald burton, would sing in church as the burton brothers, using sweet four part harmonies they wowed audiences so much that it encourged thier father, james burton to motivate them to work hard and be the best that they could be. Around 1965, another young family group was on the rise, growing in popularity, in gary, indiana, called the jackson five. Their success help to encourage the brothers direction in the music business, so with a band playing behind them they went on to play several venues in chicago gaining them popularity in the city. Later, they change the name to tommorrow''s people and landed a record deal with stage production in the mid 70,s, releasing their debut album called "open soul" in 1976 followed by the single " hurry on up tommorrow". During high school,(1972-1976), tim was a music major learning how to read and write music orchestration. His desire to learn how to play multiple instruments continued to add to his personal growth as a well rounded musician. Playing sax, bass guitar, and keyboards along with singing helped him to land the position of music director in his the family band. The band went on to moderate success thru the early 80''s until thier father took ill and could no longer be the manager of this now hot act. Unable to find someone that could fill their father shoes as a manager, motivater and someone they could trust, the band dispanded but tim continued to pursue his musical journey. During his journey out on his own for the first time without his family tim landed a jazz gig in no time. Emulating bassist like stanley clake, john pattituchi, marcus miller and many others got him popularity quickly. Working on the north side of chicago, tim was tagged the new kid on the block playing with the hottest studio musicians in town. Then he got the call to play bass for legendary singer gene chandler and soon after started working in the studio with producer gene barge(who produced natalie cole). Then in the late eighties tim played with the tyrone davis revue, touring the southern states playing blues. In the early 90''s tim toured over seas with his own act to taichun, taiwan, which was his first time abroad. Then returned to land a cruiseship job in the carribean where he found home in nassau, bahamas. Shortly after he move back to the states in south beach miami where he landed a ten week east coast tour with a folk singer name ron degan. In 1993 tim return to chicago just in time to audition for mavis staples of the staple singers. While working with mavis, tim experienced sold out auditoriums, star status, touring abroad and also got a chance to play on the same venue with his long time music idols, chicorea, john pattittuchi, bobby mcferrin,bb king, isacc hayes, bonny ratte. Prince,(the purple one), would often come to the concert, since he produced mavis "the voice" cd , to see how they''d perform. Meeting him was very magical, and to work for him is even better. After mavis tim started working back in the studio this time with chuck colbert(bassist for the american breed, and rufus)releasing a new american breed cd which tim co-produced and co-wrote. Learning producing tips from top producers, engineers and an assortment of singers. Now tim is produducing for his own label tracker us records which caters to multiple genres like reggae, rap, hiphop, r&b, gospel, jazz. So when you talk about old school, tim''s been there with over 40 years past experience while keeping current with the sounds of today.
