When Terry Tucker and Ardyth Gilbertson sing together, their voices and spirits blend as one; listeners appreciate their outstanding vocal harmonies and their unique arrangements of traditional songs. They share a love and respect for Mother Earth and all living creatures that inspire many of Terry’s original songs, and a love for poetry and the elements of folk and classical music, Medieval and Renaissance, that find a way into their arrangements and Terry’s compositions.
They particularly enjoy singing traditional carols from around the world and have arranged and recorded twelve of their favorite European carols on this CD, Ancient Ayres & Carols for Christmas. A lot of these carols have pre-Christian roots and celebrate both the Winter Solstice and Christmas. “Green Grow’th the Holly”, written by King Henry VIII of England celebrates the changing seasons.
Terry & Ardyth’s arrangements of these carols bring out their earthy rhythms and their essential beauty. The carols are accompanied by piano, alto recorder, autoharp, hand drums, and percussion instruments.
Terry and Ardyth also perform with their five-piece band, Treehouse, and are working on a new Treehouse CD to be released in the new year.
