"RUNLIKEGO one of Minneosta''s best kept secrets."
The Twin Cities has kept something hidden from the public for quite some time. That particular secret? The band RUNLIKEGO is perhaps one of the most solid young acts to emerge out of the Midwest''s music scene in the past few years. With their blend of rock, pop, and a little bit of harder influences thrown into the mix, the band has created a sound that is full on high energy rock.

The band took on the stage or the 400 Bar in Minneapolis and brought with them a cohesive rock show that tramples the efforts of most of the young performers in the Twin Cities. Composed or lead vocalist and lead guitarist Erik Hagen, drummer Ben Leonard and Korey Evans on bass guitar, the group took the stage in true rock fashion by opening up with an attention stealing "Easy On You."

As the show went on, they continued to dominate the night of music with the following "Lunchline" and their yet to be titled "New Song B." After being exposed to past recordings of the group and listening to the current tracks they have produced, the growth with the band is obvious. Each member has developed as a musician while many in their position would simply fall back on old tricks by going back to the same formula. Runlikego doesn''t do that, what they do is come up with new tricks, more complicated leads and accompaniments, more stable vocals and it shows by presenting a skillful young band.

The energy felt during a Runlikego show is so undeniable that even the most apathetic Indie fan in the back of the bar will be nodding his head in approval.

"I think we''re pretty honest with the music that we play, and I think people can sense that and they like it. We also drink a lot, so that adds to the excitement of seeing a bunch of drunk idiots hop around on stage," said Hagen.

Either intentional or not, part of the appeal Hagen has is a voice that shadows Kurt Cobain or even independent favorite Butch Walker. And that''s not necessarily a bad thing. The ability to bring forward the energy of bands like the Foo Fighters, Butch Walker and the Lets Go Out Tonites and Caviar should be taken as a compliment because they have succeeded in creating an individual sound while maintaining a certain familiarity the public can relate to.

The band''s soon to be released EP was self produced and recorded at various locations around the Twin Cities.

"Our songs are pretty much group written, everybody makes up what they play, but at the same time everyone has input on each other''s parts. The lyrics are mainly just what pops into my head at the time, but when we sat down to record, I wrote them out into a more thought through form," said Hagen on the writing process.

As the group continually draws support from the Twin Cities from new fans and old friends or the band, Hagen mentioned that, "We would like to get our EP out as soon as possible, so then we can have something that people can take home with them. As far as long term goals, we would like to get on some sort of label, and be able to release music and tour."
