Inspired by The Church, Blondie, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Joy Division, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, & so many talented others - Anakki''s musical leanings have led her often to the punk side of goth whilst retaining her passion for progressive space rock & throbbing, ear-splitting metal powered by thumping bass beats... Anakki plays multiple instruments, writing & performing everything on these songs...
Formerly of Inamorata & currently also the vocalist for Australian band, The Velvet Fuselage, Anakki created Alien Kiss at the urging of the legendary & talented Peter Koppes (The Church) who encouraged her to continue to work on material that she''d begun developing before Inamorata''s demise... Those few songs were finished, and in no time, more were written, and even a few older songs that had been left in limbo were finally finished and added to the collection... The end of 2007 saw enough songs completed for Anakki to begin the process of selecting what would make it onto the CD.
One of the songs Anakki is pleased to have finished is the new & re-recorded version of Don''t Look Inside - a song originally performed live with Peter Koppes on drums in 2005 & recorded in its original format for Inamorata''s only CD release. Anakki regards Peter as a musical hero & his suggestions regarding the arrangement of this song were a major driving force behind Anakki''s re-working of it with some of those suggestions implemented in this new version.
Two of the brand new songs that feature on this CD are the opening track, In The Ether - an upbeat catchy tune that stays in your head, and the slower but equally memorable 2nd track, Replacement Girl...
