Duo + One is a jointly lead trio by master drummer Rashied Ali and virtuoso saxophonist Hayes Greenfield. This CD documents almost 15 years of their collaborating as a duo and broadens their sound by including the wonderful bassist Don Pate who joins them for this CD. During the ‘90’s The Rashied Ali / Hayes Greenfield Duo performed regularly to sold out audiences at the now, defunct legendary Internet Café, that was located on 3rd Street in the heart of the East Village in NYC. The joy of this trio with this CD is that everyone is as comfortable in the straight ahead traditional jazz vein as with free music and everything in between, which offers a wide open pallet for these stellar musicians to create and communicate with each other. What more can we ask for as listeners other than to be taken on an artistic journey of the inner spirits from open minded, ready and willing risk takers that push that envelope at every turn.
