Davis and Shawn met in a park in the winter of 2001 and started playing music that Shawn had been writing. Jon and Erik met at work and Erik joind Jon''s band "Phase III" for nearly two years ending in July of 2002. Also that year, Juan moved in next to Shawn and quickly became part of the group. In fall of 2003 Erik''s new roomate introduced his brother Jay and they began holding music party jam sessions with Jon and other friends shortly afterwards.
Thus the stage was set for erik to get shawn''s number about a band looking for a bass player. At their second meeting in mid Feburary Jay joined the group on the drums and magic happened. The excitable new 5-peice made rapid progress on learning and arranging the huge library of songs they had written, and in march started playing gigs.
At the end of the Summer 2004 they have played dozens of clubs, and have shows as many weekends as they want, but something is still missing. The addation of Jon to the lineup fills that last whole in the E-Lie sound. The new 6-peice lineup starts by winning the 2004 New Copper penny Battle of the Bands and launches into playing 3 hour shows most weekends.
Having seasoned themselves with live shows, they group spends early 2006 doing some studio work and will have the first EP available in the spring of 2005, along with lots of shows at bars and clubs all over town, and later this year the show hits the road.
E-Lie is one of portlands hottest new musical groups, and Winner of the 2004 New Copper Penny Battle of the Bands Tournament, We have been booked solidly for months since, regular performances which have allowed the band to mature, while building a constantly growing fan base around the Pacific Northwest.
Spring of 2005 opens new doors for us as our new CD is being printed and will be released in mid-May. We have been traveling around Oregon and Washington States playing a constantly growing list of venues and cities.
