Celtic Stew is southwest Florida’s premiere Irish Pub band. The band was founded by Terry Igo of Sanibel, Florida at the turn of the century and has gone on to hundreds of performances in the area and 2 cd recordings. Joe Fair, originally from Hoboken, NJ is the front man, lead singer and bass player for the band. He is known as the “man of a million lyrics”, with the uncanny ability to recall lyrics from most every song he has heard. A former touring barbershop quartet champion, Joe knows how to keep the crowd going. A dual citizen of Ireland and the USA, Joe resides in Fort Myers, FL.
John Nastasi joined the band 4 years ago as the flat top picker, banjo player and vocalist. Originally from Westchester County, NY, he was trained at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY and USF in Tampa, FL. John plays classical, jazz and bluegrass styles and is much sought after by local symphony and theater groups. He also directs choral music and has recently toured Europe. John does a dead on Johnny Cash vocal. He hopes to take the band through a tour of the Emerald Isle in the near future.
Maureen Steger, originally from Detroit, Michigan, is the flute, fife and penny whistler of the group. She is known for her lightening quick melodies and sustains notes as if she had a third lung. Widely known and sought after in the area, she is a music teacher at a private school and has a large studio practice. Maureen has toured in the US and Europe.
Dave McGrath is a Harvard alumnus, originally from Boston, Massachusetts. He is the encyclopedia of Irish music for the group. Dave does vocals and plays mandolin, bandolin, harmonica and melodica (and any other instruments that rhyme with them). He runs Irish music sessions at local venues throughout southwest Florida.
