The first sonata of the three part series, Op. 39 in G-major, displays a vivid image of the virtuoso skills Dussek mastered as a widely travelled and experienced concert pianist. The following Andantino ma moderato movement introduces two heavily contrasting themes, with theme No. 2 showing highly romantic traits.
