Touring in more than a dozen states, Janet Feld has become a regular on the local and national folk music circuit over the past 20 years. In addition to being an outstanding vocalist, she is an accomplished guitarist who uses many innovative styles to spice her live performances. Feld’s subtle sense of humor and ability to connect with the audience make her a crowd favorite wherever she goes.
Locally, she is a regular at Club Passim (Cambridge,Mass.), the area’s top folk club, and a three-time invitee to the Best of Boston Singer-Songwriter Showcase. Feld was also a Boston Music Award nominee and a finalist in the True Value Country Showdown, hosted by WKLB-FM at the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, Mass.
She has appeared at the Bluebird Café (Nashville, Tenn.) and the Iron Horse (Northampton, Mass.) as well as the Kerrville (Texas) and Falcon Ridge (Hillsdale, New York) Folk Festivals. Feld has opened for Dar Williams, Steve Forbert, John Gorka, Cheryl Wheeler, Aztec Two-Step and Chris Smither.
Since 1999, she has cobbled together a full-time music career, which consists of performing and teaching. Feld teaches guitar and piano lessons privately and gives guitar instruction at the Club Passim School of Music. Until the end of the school year in 2007, Janet was teaching general music classes to children 2 to 13 years old.
