Austin Texas is a beautiful and unusual city in many ways and living here for many years inspired me to write my first ambient https://www.tradebit.comse are the highlights of what occurred upon the completion of River City. A few weeks after I first released it I finished a set at a local club and an audience member came up and told me that their lover had just died and had requested that my album be played during this because it made them feel spiritual. I knew then that I had finally tapped into part of my musical destiny. The old adage that if you can help just one person then your mission is accomplished worked on me and it truly felt that way. This became a theme over the next several years as people told me how my music helped them deal with their pain and related their experiences with everything from migranes to cancer treatments. Shortly after this first encounter a friend gave a copy to a brain wave study at the NASA Industrial Applications Center. They told me my music inreassed subliminal awarness. Again over the years people told me they would listen to it at work for hours quietly in the background and said it helped them relax and stay focused. My original plan was to take a break from my many years of rock compositions and make a beautiful organic sounding space music recording featuring my flute Tablas, guitar and synth ideas. And that it would resemble the Eno. Klause Schulze, Steve Hillage, and Ravi Shankar albums I had been listening to. My previous intrest and enthusiasum for psychedelic music had already led me to the conclusion that music expands consciousness but all this attention to healing took me by surprise. I soon found myself performing at everything from Holistic clinics to art openings to techno dance clubs filled with psychedelic lighting and fog. Various Dance troops and film makers used segments and then, best of all, I was offered the position as the flute player for the once a year retreat held by author Lynn Andrews. This is where I was introduced to the unbeleivable world of visualization meditation. As of 2008 I have now played this event for 15 years and in that time they have released recordings of all the meditations and ceremonies. I have released six more ambient albums which includes my new release [Jan. 2008] The Mechanix Of Time. I believe music is healing and expands consciousness.
