Details:
Jeff is an accomplished multi-talented musician who writes his own music, plays the keyboard and guitar, and performs his own vocals, including his own harmony on many of his recordings.

He was born Jeffery Scott Horstman in 1960 in Bloomington , Indiana. He grew up east of there in Shelbyville Indiana. He showed an early interest in music when his father bought him a ukulele at the age of eight. With that he started learning chords and singing and soon entertained his third grade class with his rendition of "Wendy" during "show and tell". It was also in third grade that he got his first Magnus organ. He conquered the art of playing left hand chords, and right hand melody. He surprised his teacher that year with a line up of Christmas songs that he had learned on his own. In fourth grade he got his first real guitar, a Gibson, and began playing more complex chords and now was playing songs he heard on the radio. He was truly blessed with an ear for music and was able to perform songs even without the sheet music. By fifth grade he and some friends had formed a five piece band and were good enough to play three songs for their elementary school graduation.

He began to pursue music with a passion. In seventh through twelfth grades he sang in the regular school choir, and performed in the school show choir, "The Shelbyville Show Group". In ninth grade, at the ripe old age of 14, he played guitar and sang at the local Bluebird Dinner Theater. It wasn''t until he was a senior in high school that he began to play the piano and it quickly became his love. It was during that same period as a senior that he wrote his first song called, "There''s Life Ahead". It was written as a choir arrangement and was preformed by his school choir. After high school he attended Butler University, majoring in music theory and composition.

At the age of twenty-one Jeff decided to quit college for a while, and he joined a band called "Face Value". They had regular gigs at Holiday Inn lounges and other clubs. But it wasn''t long until Jeff got the urge to travel and he went to Florida to audition for "Make Believe", a well known band based out of North Carolina. They were signed to play the Marriott clubs and Adams Mark clubs and they toured up and down the east coast. "Make Believe" also auditioned for the television show Star Search and made it through the first couple of rounds, but unfortunately, not to the final round. They did stay in Los Angeles for a while and during that time met Ed McMahon.

Jeff eventually moved on and went back to Titusville Florida and hooked up with a three piece band down there called "Menagerie". They ended up moving north to Indianapolis, Indiana and performed the Holiday Inn circuit and other night clubs. Around the age of twenty-seven Jeff had the opportunity to become part of a country variety band called "Anastasia". They too were booked all around Indiana.

Jeff took a change in course around the age of 30. He picked up the banjo, and of course still the piano, and jumped into playing some Ragtime music. For five years he was the main pianist at the Boggstown Inn and Cabaret Dinner Club. He would also accompany other acts that would play there, as well as participating in the rollicking of dueling pianos.

Throughout the years Jeff has continued to write music for himself and other groups. Then at the age of thirty-five Jeff felt called to serve the Lord with his music. He began playing at church services at the Methodist Church in Shelbyville Indiana. He had always enjoyed Christian music, and in fact at the age of 19 he had written an Easter Cantata which he performed with the community choir in Shelbyville. So now, returning to his Christian music brought new meaning into his life. When he was forty, a Marion College instructor by the name of Sara Reid was so impressed with his piano playing that she encouraged him to go back to college. It was here that Jeff would meet Composition Director, Chris Rutkowski who was there to teach Jeff more prolific classical music composition, and how to write arrangements for piano and vocal. Chris was such an inspiration to Jeff that when he left to teach at the University of Indianapolis, Jeff followed for two years.

Now residing in Lafayette, Indiana he enjoys having his brother Joe and his family living close by. His parents Carolyn and Joe also have been in Lafayette for the past two years so he is able to see them frequently. He remains a prolific keyboardist with a talent in almost any genre of music, although his greatest love is Inspirational Christian Music. Jeff keeps busy working as accompanist for the Trinity Methodist church choir, with whom he also sings. With scarcely an hour in between services he then goes to Trinity''s contemporary service, "New Road", where he is keyboardist and one of the vocalists for Praise and Worship.

He has two Cd''s out now. Old Favorites - Piano Expressions, features Jeff on the piano doing mostly old hymns, as well as a few of the newer praise and worship songs that everyone knows and enjoys. His other CD, There''s Power In His Love, is composed of songs that he wrote most of the music for. He also wrote a lot of the lyrics, but was blessed to have his mother, Carolyn, contribute lyrics for some of those songs. It also features some music and lyrics by other friends and family.

He has now teamed up with lyricist Donna Raub. Jeff feels this musical partnership is turning out some awesome, inspirational contemporary Christian songs. " They are about the ups and downs of life and how Jesus is right there with us if we believe in Him, and love Him, and live our lives as we know He would want us to. These are songs anyone can relate to. They are about life." Jeff and Donna are currently working on a CD together and have great expectations for it in the near https://www.tradebit.com''s exciting seeing this dynamic duo create the kind of music we know you will love.
