Recorded April 28, 2007 to Released October 2007
Celebrated Houston jazz vocalist Kristine Mills and the Ken Ward Jazz Ensemble recorded live at Cézanne''s, Houston''s premier jazz club.
Featured in the ensemble were two veterans of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, drummer Rocky White and Barry Lee Hall, Jr., conductor/arranger and trumpet player for the Duke Ellington Orchestra. The other members of the ensemble included Ken Ward on piano and David Craig on bass and Paul Chester on guitar. Andy Bradley of SugarHill Recording Studio engineered the recording.
The standing-room-only audience enjoyed a very exciting night of jazz classics from the Great American Songbook, including those penned by Ellington, Porter and Gershwin. Kristine performed beautiful and lush renditions of Bossa Nova sung in Portuguese. Also performed were rip-roaring, down and-dirty blues.
