Details:
Music has always been a big part of Ray Rivers’ life. Ray started playing guitar and singing in university, performing at student gatherings and house parties both as a single act and as part of a band. He played and sang his way across Europe at the end of 60’s busking the folk and popular songs of that time.
After years of working in the fields of politics and the environment Ray Rivers has returned to his musical roots to bring out in his songs the messages he has learned over the years. He has written over 50 songs in the last two years.
His first CD, released in March 2007 titled “Angry Old Men”, is a commentary about life and lost opportunity. Ray’s second CD, titled “Weather Makers All”, addresses issues about our environment and is being formally released in early 2008.
Ray has performed at numerous open stage events, including Manhattan’s Music Club, Mariposa Folk Festival, Brampton Folk Festival, the Moonshine Café, Mitzi’s Sister, Ponsonby Grand Central, in addition to various events and house parties in Canada, the USA, Mexico and New Zealand. He sold the rights to some of his songs for use in an environmental video production and his music has been requested by radio stations seeking to play Ray’s straight up message music.
Rivers’ music incorporates a diversity of melody stylings and vocal arrangements.
