Originally formed as a cover band in 2005, Re-Animated® is an undead alternative hard rock band hailing from SE Minnesota. Although they always talked about writing originals, it wasn''t until January of 2006 when Deb & Nate were left without a drummer that the ideas started to flow. With extremely contrasting backgrounds and influences, they were amazed at how well their ideas meshed. Nate’s intense musical style along with Deb’s emotional lyrics create a unique and unforgettable experience for anyone fortunate enough to happen upon their music. “Of course there are times when I write music and Nate writes lyrics,” says Deb “but most of our music is his and the lyrics mine. It just seems to work out that way and we’re content to let whatever happens, happen.”
With musical influences extending from Beethoven to Metallica, Re-Animated® has a range and depth to their music not often heard in today’s cookie cutter rock bands. “I’ve spent too much time in bands trying to be the next Korn or Metallica or whatever is currently popular,” states Nate “but with Re-Animated® I don’t feel pressure to write or play a certain way. This is the first time I’ve ever felt like I could just be myself as a musician.”
Re-Animated®’s music is heavily inspired by the personal emotions and experiences of each member. When asked where her lyrics come from Deb replies, “My lyrics are almost always about life and what I’m feeling at the moment I write them. ‘Faded’ was written after a particularly bad day at a yuppie job I was working and commuting two hours one way to every day. My dreams were so much better than my reality I just wanted to stay in them.” Although some of Nate’s music will just pop into his head while he’s in the “library,” the majority of it is based on emotion. “Most of the time it’s a result of me just picking up my bass whenever I feel a really strong emotion and playing whatever happens to come out. For example the verse part of ‘Faded’ was written when I was feeling very angry and that resulted in a fairly heavy sound.” says Nate.
Regardless of what their influences are or how they come up with their music, with the release of "The Dream Cycle EP" Re-Animated® is definitely a band on the rise!
