Singer and lyricist, Vince Brown has finally made his mark in the Christian Contemporary community. Born in Chicago, Illinois and then settling in Southern California, Vince is no stranger to Christian Music.
Singing since an early age, in a house filled with a love for music, Vince quickly developed a passion for singing and music.
Mr. Grant Productions: Vince, what inspired you to sing and what influences did you have musically that shaped your vocal style?
Vince Brown: I remember growing up listening to Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5 in the house but more importantly hearing my mother sing various songs from church and traditional hymns throughout the house. She also sang in church and was a lead singer in one of the church choirs. As I grew, my aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and church encouraged my singing. They’re all singers too! I was also involved in a lot of projects at school and at church.
Mr. Grant Productions: What was it like growing up with so many singers in the family?
Vince Brown: It was great! When I would visit my grandmother in Arkansas for the summer or at the family reunions, there would always be lots of singing, skits, and church programs. Everyone was encouraged to participate.
Mr. Grant Productions: Your first CD project was entitled “SunBeam”. What inspired you to write and record the CD project?
Vince Brown: “SunBeam” is a result of two brothers in Christ with a common vision to produce something fresh for the Christian community. I have been singing most of my life and tried to make it in music by singing outside of the church. When that didn’t produce anything for me, I confessed to the Lord that I would not perform or write anything else that did not glorify HIS name. I met Arlen “Mr. Grant” Clemons three years ago and started working with him on tracks he had written and we wrote the CD together in about six months.
Mr. Grant Productions: What is your favorite track on the CD?
Vince Brown: I really enjoyed writing and singing them all but my favorite is “Holy Rollin”. When I heard the music for the track, the production really grabbed me. I wrote it to edify the body with a message that GOD’s promises are true and will empower us to do great things when we believe on what HE said.
Mr. Grant Productions: Are you working on any other projects right now?
Vince Brown: Yes, we''re just finishing the sophomore project entitled "Righteous Heir" which should be completed around December of 2007. I also writing for a few of the other artists associated with Mr. Grant Productions.
