Ralph Wall is a middle aged, Nebraska native who has been writing songs since childhood. He has performed live sporadically, but concentrates more on writing and recording his original works with musician partner Greg Mertz of Lincoln. Ralph''s professional career has been as a lifelong broadcaster in Nebraska radio/television. This exposure to the news, events and entertainment of life has been influential on his musical writings. Wall is currently applying his broadcast skills to outdoor related programming for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. Outdoor related themes occur in a few of his ''Marker 1'' CD songs and will likely be featured in future releases. Perhaps because of a broadcast journalism background, Wall believes in telling a story in song. Ralph feels the melody line/mood has a fit to a lyrical subject (prosody) and he strives to paint a picture for the listener''s imagination. Ralph''s musical background is acoustic guitar based with writing influences beginning with several British Invasion rock groups. However, Wall admires and draws inspiration from many rock and blues artists. Greg Mertz brings a background of playing in heavy rock bands to the partnership. Wall and Mertz believe ''Marker 1'' is a blend of styles that enhances each song, be it a ballad or eccentric rock number.
