Details:
As one of the very few bands creating a hybrid between old and new, The Wood Floors have worked extremely hard to make music that truly reflects each of its current members. Creating that sound has not been easy. When originally formed in 2003 by Singer/Guitarist Chris Howe, The Wood Floors was considered “a work in progress” as he wrote a plethora of songs with as diverse of a style as the many musicians he worked with when trying to find the right chemistry before settling on the current line-up. Often referred to as “new and improved”, The Wood Floors have since spent a lot of time in rehearsal revamping and refreshing their sound. Finding a commonality amongst musicians as diverse as The Wood Floors has not been easy seeing that each member brings so much history, experience, and personality to the table. However The Wood Floors have mastered it.

Since the first rehearsal, Singer/Guitarist Chris Howe and drummer John MacArthur established an instant friendship and musical chemistry that is instantly apparent in their music. A chance meeting reacquainted MacArthur with Lead Guitarist Chris Saunders while in grad school. MacArthur and Saunders had both previously gradated from UMASS Lowell with degrees in Music Education. Although they had never played together in a band before, they have known each other for many years. Rounding out the lineup is Neal Byles, originally hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee. Neal played guitar and sang in the retro-alternative band “Disciples of Orange” with MacArthur before making the switch to bass, and joining The Wood Floors not only filling out the low end, but adding his voice and quick-witted sense of humor to the mix.

When it was time to go into the studio, The Wood Floors did not have to travel very far. Not only is Chris Howe the singer/guitarist for the band, but he also is a whiz in the Recording studio. The Wood Floors album is entirely recorded and produced in Howe’s basement recording studio. The result is an album that showcases the sound that The Wood Floors have developed and refined as time moves forward. With Howe at the helm, The Wood Floors have been able to put down on record their unique brand of pop/alternative rock and as stated in a review by “the Noise”, creates the powerful sort of bad magic you are looking for… The Wood Floors seamless blend of light and dark utilizing melodic tensions, energetic hooks, and moody lyrics yields a sound that is truly original, and a performance that is not to be missed!
