"Technically stunning, professionally produced, delightfully excessive, and endearingly earnest, the debut album from San Marcos''s Every Other Fate is a relentless and disarming emo-math-rock mosaic. Rarely appearing to stay with one idea for longer than 30 seconds, and maintaining a furious energy for almost the whole duration of the album, "into the singularity and the maw of tomorrow" is an exhausting listen. Of course that''s a good thing for your typical math-rocker (or prog-metalhead, in my case). The myriad tightly-packed ideas are not exactly luxuriously developed, but they are all really good ideas executed with refreshing confidence. Essentially a disorienting thrill ride, this album could be considered ear-candy if it weren''t for the consistently thought-provoking lyrics. While at times sounding like he''s reading from his diary (for all the good and bad that may entail), vocalist and presumed lyricist Brent Ferguson gets points for an expressive delivery and his intriguing concepts about insanity and technology. Gold stars go to head-spinning drum work by Brandon Daniel and nuanced-yet-adrenal production by Jason Moore. This tight local release that will give you your money''s worth of thrills, and more than a little depth and honesty thrown in to wash it down."

BIOGRAPHY:
while lazily resting under a breezy palm, God (you don''t know him) was mildly disturbed by what He thought to be a lacking of emotive driving melodies combined with progressive/math rhythms. "now what the hell was I thinking?" thought God. so with a gentle flick of His divine finger, He removed from his nose the spark of Life and cast it to the ground somewhere towards the rump of the united states. it just so happened to land in austin, tx where it sprouted, in all its divine glory, into what we now know as the band every other fate.
every other fate is a purely domestic quartet with all the flavor and none of the carbs. they play a progressive style of math rock with an emphasis on creating emotional vocals and haunting melodies. they play mainly in teeming clubs of downtown austin and the seedy bars of san marcos, texas.
every other fate consists of four members. brent ferguson, who when not singing and playing bass teaches high school students basic geography. the other three members all work together in the budding metropolis of wimberley, tx where they are graphic designers, two bit actors, and landscapers. josh cunningham plays guitar. matt hinterlong plays guitar. brandon daniel hits things in incomprehensible fractal patterns based off complex mathematical formulas. he has also almost figured out how to balance his checkbook.
every other fate has been playing for 2 years and has just finished their first album: into the singularity and the maw of tomorrow. it is a concept album that flows in movements along a storyline. it tells the story of man struggling against technology and the quest for meaning and enlightenment. the entire album is a wrenching struggle through emotion and insanity that leads the listener into the unknown of the beyond.
