Details:
In the 1970s, the late Trevor Symonette, an ace guitarist who played lead for The Bahamas’ top pop band, taught me to play Minnie Riperton’s hit ''Lovin’ You''. The chords were a quantum leap from the basic strumming that I had previously played and Trevor’s brief tutoring carried me a long way. In the 1980s, as a medical student in Jamaica, I played in a pop band aptly named ''The Cadavers''. That band died a natural death around about the same time that I was introduced to the beautiful artistry of Earl Klugh.

Kelly''s Song, a short, sweet grooving guitar melody was written in a Klugh-inspired style in 1988. My brother, Leslie and his date, Kelly, were the first to hear it and it was Leslie who suggested the name that stuck.

Over the past decade while my children were marauding toddlers, my guitar, a Devoe classic, remained in the protection of its sturdy case. In 2006, I became motivated to play again and to record and for this I turned to Neil Symonette at Reel Time recording studios in Nassau. Neil, was none other than my former tutor’s younger brother. He had turned his old family homestead into a recording studio and there we resurrected and improved Kelly’s Song. Augmented with the saxophone sounds of Dion Turnquest and the bass of Adrian D''Aguilar, the music suddenly seemed worth sharing with the world. ''This Guy’s in Love with You'' is a longtime favourite that I performed for my bride at our wedding. The inspiration for my ''Sunset over Old Fort Bay'' is easily appreciated by anyone who has seen the breathtaking event from any beach in the Bahamas.

I admit that this effort is unpolished and short, but if I were to hold it back until I can find the time to fix its shortcomings, it may never, ever be heard. So, I must entreat my listeners to forgive me its numerous imperfections and hope that you still enjoy Another Side.
