Details:
Strange Arrangement, a Chicago-based quartet, is a band combining what they know and love about musical genres layered with testimonial lyrics. The members of Strange Arrangement spent much time with many miles between them, before reuniting in Chicago in September 2006. During the decade that passed before this reunion, the members of Strange Arrangement performed a wide array of styles from jazz to rock; raggae and funk to bluegrass; as well as Afro-Cuban and West African Music, each lending an expression to their overall sound. The members of Strange Arrangement include Joe Hettinga on keyboards, Bob Parlier on drums, Jim Conry on guitar, and Kevin Barry on bass. Composing songs that range from lyrically-based folk songs to Progressive Rock epics. Their honeyed harmonies and artful ballads stream over polished and perfected instrumentation. The first full length album of their career is about to drop, here in Chicago and neighboring areas of the Midwest. With a strong bond to their native region of the US, Strange Arrangement is looking to embrace the bigger picture of live music here---among those who blend it, fuse it, and funk it up. No need to pigeon-hole this band as simply a jam band, which could be done upon first listen. What you really get is a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam where Wilco meets Herbie Hancock meets My Morning Jacket. Be sure to check out the new album, Side x Side.
