Founded in January 1999, E.X. VORTEX is a 5-member rock band, consisting of a guitarist(Juan "Whiz Kid" Mitchell),bassist(John B. Washington),drummer(Tommy lee Johnson),turntablist(Machete X) and a lead vocalist(Baye Osei). The band likes to describe it''s music as "GHETTO METAL",incorporating Heavy Metal,funk,punk rock and hip-hop.
E.X. VORTEX was featured on OUTKAST''s multi-platinum Grammy winning 1999 cd,"STANKONIA", and has recorded a hardcore re-make of of the PUBLIC ENEMY classic, "BUCKWYLIN''",which also features a CHUCK D and PROFESSOR GRIFF (of PUBLIC ENEMY)guest appearance.
