Irving Layton (March 12, 1912 – January 4, 2006) was a Canadian poet. He was known for his "tell it like it is" style which won him a wide following but also made enemies. As T. Jacobs notes in his biography (2001), Layton fought Puritanism throughout his life:
Layton''s work had provided the bolt of lightning that was needed to split open the thin skin of conservatism and complacency in the poetry scene of the preceding century, allowing modern poetry to expose previously unseen richness and depth.
For the better half of Irving Layton’s 94 years, he was celebrated as a writer and cultural critic. His poetry and politics made him one of the era’s aesthetic superstars and up until the time he died, his Maverick personal style and intellectual bent earned him both adulation and contempt. His influence in contemporary intellectual life could be felt clear across Canada and Europe. An avid anti puritan, Layton endured as one of the modern headline machines of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. His career as Teacher and writer collected Disciples such as Leonard Cohen and Moses Znaimer. Layton garnered many provincial, National and international prizes including a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.

Luke Parkin is one of the younger generation’s most expansive, prolific and multidimensional artists. His ever growing portfolio of works, represent a massive array of musical influences from contemporary classical to electronic pop and experimental genres. As a composer his compositions present a dazzling fusion of sound.
His tremendous aptitude for improvisation of classical forms caused him to study and compile a huge number of albums in both the commercial and contemporary classical music worlds while living and working in Los Angeles, CA.
Parkin has been featured in over 60 music and lifestyle magazines and newspaper publications across the United States, Canada and Europe and has been heard on major Commercial & University Radio Stations. He is also published in the Canada Collections, National Archives. In April He lead radio discussions on tone poetry and artistic process that have been included in classroom discussions and literary groups in the United States and Europe.
Parkin keeps an active dossier of charity work. In Summer 2oo6 he was chosen as the national print model for the 2006 Print Ad Media Awareness Campaign for the Tourette Syndrome Association of America. He is recently working with the Tourette Syndrome Foundation of Canada as a goodwill ambassador,

Parkin’s latest commercial projects include a major collaboration with producer Corwin Fox and pop vocalist Moira. Synesthesia and The Classitronika Collection are complex, high energy remixes of the best of Parkin’s Electronic Music.
