Details:
Karibu Tanzania! Welcome to Tanzania!

This incredible 80 minute CD is a celebration of the collaborative efforts of kindred spirits on opposite sides of the world, with one heart for the orphans in the small villages of northern Tanzania, Africa.

Your donation through the purchase of this CD will help us to make a difference in the lives of so many children in Tanzania...to feed them, clothe them, and educate them. Basic human needs. A simple request from children who have no voice, and until now, who had no advocate.

To say that daily life in Tanzania is difficult would be an understatement. As the 5th poorest country in the world, the average annual household income in Tanzania is less than $400 per year. At this heartbreaking poverty level, families typically comprised of not less than 7 people, try to survive on less than $1 per day.

For the orphans in Tanzania, and the grandmothers who have buried their own children and are often the only family left to care for their grandchildren, the challenges are obviously even greater.

It’s a vicious cycle. Education is the key to overcoming poverty, yet educational opportunities in Tanzania are hampered by the crippling effects of poverty.

A lack of qualified teachers, compounded by a lack of adequate teaching facilities, is a primary barrier to education as a stepping stone out of poverty.

It is not unusual for classes to be held outside for a lack of classrooms, and for one class to include one teacher for 75 students. School books are often a luxury. One classroom might have just 5 textbooks, with 15 students sometimes sharing a single textbook.

In some schools, children are expelled for not having a proper school uniform or shoes. Yet with the cost of one uniform equal to the family income for half of a month, many children will be excluded from educational opportunities as a family chooses food over schooling. Even when choosing food over education, many children in Tanzania still have only one meal a day. With no breakfast at home, and when there is no lunch at school, hunger is a significant barrier to learning.

So what can be done to alleviate the struggle and suffering that is the consequence of poverty? Through your purchase of this CD you can help us to support these children and address their lack of basic needs...food, clothing and education. And when you tell others about this amazing CD, and the mission to support these beautiful children, we will be able to accomplish even more.

As examples, proceeds from the sale of just one CD will enable us to:

- Feed a meal of rice and beans to 15 orphans, or

- Provide a school uniform to a primary school student, and at the same time, pay a fair wage to the women’s group who will be sewing these uniforms for us, or

- Provide 3 textbooks for a primary school classroom.

Incredible music...incredible good works...hearts in unity.

It’s just that simple — as simple as a child’s desire to be loved...our children, your children, the children of Tanzania.
