Like most kids I started singing in church. I was about 5 years old when I sang my first solo, I don''t remember what it was but it was probably something like "Jesus Loves Me" or "This Little Light of Mine". I attended the Church of God in Sedan, NM with my Dad, my three older brothers and an older sister, I am the youngest of five kids. I had a few years of chorus in school but never thought much about doing anything with my voice. I didn''t know I could sing, much less sing any good until I sang at my friends wedding dance with a country and western band. Everyone liked it so much they kept asking the band if I could sing some more and after that I was hooked. I bought an acoustic guitar for $75 and taught myself to play. All that took place the summer after I graduated high school and then I went on to pursue my music by singing with several country and western bands in northeast New Mexico and traveling the tri-state area for the next 12 years. My goal was to be a country singer, but little did I know at the time, that God had other plans for my life.
In 1991 I had had enough and gave up my band and walked away from all of it. I was "burned out" from being gone all the time and from everything that went along with the whole "bar" scene. Not to mention the number I allowed it to do on my personal life,my children and my marriage which ended in divorce.
In 1993 I gave my heart and life to Jesus Christ and I began serving Him by writing and singing my own songs and witnessing in music ministry at churches, concerts and local events. I owe so much to God for not giving up on me when I wasn''t serving Him and doing my own thing.
In 1994 I remarried a wonderful man, my husband Oscar. God has placed him in my life and he has been a great father to my two daughters. He also has two children of his own and we have two grandkids.
I serve as a member of the praise and worship team at my local church, the Church of God, in Clayton, NM and I am a member of the Country Gospel Music Association. I''ve recorded two albums, one a duet album in 1998, with my good friend Evelyn Taylor-Cruz, and the other, my first solo album in 2001, titled "Not Forsaken" with the first five songs being my originals.
I have just completed my third album with ten songs that I have written will be released in March 2008.
I am available for concerts, churches and any event where people want to be encouraged and know there is hope in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
My greatest desire is to be a witness for Jesus Christ through the music and testimony that He has given me. I am living proof that God can take something bad in our lives and use it for good and give Him glory in the end. God''s word tells us that His compassions never fail and His mercies are new everyday!
Friends, God sent His Son to suffer and die in our place. Jesus rose from the dead and defeated death. It''s as simple as this: WE broke God''s Law, and Jesus paid our fine. If you will repent and trust in the Savior, God will forgive your sins and dismiss your case.
I''m not offering you a quick fix to all your problems. All I know is that God saved me from the pit I was headed to and He has never failed me since my re-birth that day in October of 1993. God offers you eternal life through the Savior, Jesus Christ when you ask Him to forgive you of your sins, you become a new creation from that time on.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says," Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things are new." Isn''t that good news! That''s what the gospel of Jesus Christ is "GOOD NEWS"!!
