Details:
He was born on June 10, 1974 in our nation''s capital to Bobbie and Shirley Hinson and has an older brother, Bobbie "Tony" Hinson, Jr. After finishing Elementary School at Charles Young, Michael and his family moved to Landover, Maryland where he completed Junior High at Greenbelt Middle School. While attending Greenbelt, one of his music teachers, Mrs. Foster, noticed that Michael had a musical gift from God, "Perfect Pitch" and urged him to participate in either the band or the chorus. Michael decided to participate in the band in which began his career as a trombonist.

After Junior High, Michael went on to attend Fairmont Heights High School where his was a member of the Jazz Ensemble, which was the only instrumental group in the school at the time. During his senior year, Fairmont Heights received a new music teacher, Mary K. Cole, who not only brought drastic improvements to the music program but she also changed the course of Michael''s life forever. Mrs. Cole made him realize just how invaluable his gift could be and that it could get him a long way in music. When Mrs. Cole started the Marching Band Program, C. Michael began his career in Music Arranging with his first arrangement of Naughty By Nature''s song "O. P. P.". He also arranged songs by N. W. A., Boys II Men, Digital Underground, Rare Essence and much, much more. The band did not have any tuba players during the first year so Michael played the bass line of every song on his trombone.

In 1992, Michael graduated from Fairmont Heights and went on to attend Bowie State University where he joined the Marching Band. Although the band was small at the time, it was larger than his high school band and it also had Tubas. Michael got brave one day and composed a song for the band but couldn''t think of a title for it, so he just called it "Mike''s March" and when the band performed it, they performed it well.

The very next year, Michael transferred to Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Once again he joined the Marching Band and tried his luck at composing and arranging. He rewrote "Mike''s March" by eliminating the intro and adding a fanfare to the beginning. After playing the new fanfare on the piano several times, he said to himself, "This fanfare is fantastic"! As a result, for over nine years, the WSSU Marching Rams performed Michael''s masterpiece titled, "Fantastic Fanfare", along with other original pieces.

Today, C. Michael is one of the most sought after musicians in the Carolinas. His instrumentals has been used by countless singers, dancers, and rappers across the triad. His marching band arrangements have been distributed to schools all across the east coast. He currently plays trombone at his church, Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. , and in the gospel group, "Peace of Mind". He is also the Director of Bands at The Carter G. Woodson School of Challenge.
