Details:
JOHN CADLEY
The Closer I Get

A new solo CD of 12 original songs
by the writer of Lou Reid’s #1 hit “Time.”

John Cadley has been playing, singing, and writing music since he was 13, when he formed his first group at boarding school. By college he was in The Glencoves, a folk group that toured behind the national hit “Hootenanny.” Since that time he has played in many bluegrass and country groups throughout the Northeast, as well as a national touring stint playing guitar with Clay and Sally Hart, two former singers on the Lawrence Welk Show.

John’s songs have been recorded by Lou Reid, Jim Hurst and Missy Raines, and Tony Trischka. His song, “Time,” became Lou Reid’s first #1 hit, remaining in the top spot on the Bluegrass Unlimited chart for three months.

John has previously recorded two award-winning CDs of original material with his own group, The Lost Boys. The first, Middle of Nowhere, received a Highlight Review in Bluegrass Unlimited and was voted the #1 CD in any genre in his home region of Central New York.

The Closer I Get is John’s latest—and perhaps best—work to date. Produced by former Ricky Skaggs guitarist Clay Hess (now with Mountain Heart) and recorded at Randy Kohrs’ Slack Key Studio in Nashville in May ’07, it features Clay on guitar, mandolin, and vocal harmonies, Randy on dobro and vocal harmonies, Terry Baucom on banjo, Aaron Till and Tim Crouch on fiddles, Beth Lawrence and Darrin Vincent on bass, and Jennifer Strickland on vocal harmonies.
