MP3 Locust Avenue - Three O'clock Target

Inspired by the energy of the early Who and the attack and melancholy of the Replacements.

9 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Psychedelic, ROCK: Garage Rock

Details:
Locust Avenue started in 2001 as a demo project recorded by Jeff Richardson and Drew Van Wagner with assistance on bass and drums from Chris Van Wagner. These demos produced the first album "Songs for the Shortwave." Response to the album was surprisingly good to Richardson, a resident of Norman, OK. After leaving the state for two and a half years Richardson formed a band in Norman, OK under the same name of Locust Avenue with Matt Carson (guitar, vocals) Jeff Cooper (bass) and Blaine Palmer (drums.) The second Locust Avenue disc "The New Originals," (released in 2005) was also well received. Unfortunately for the band it fell apart soon after with Carson relocating to Chicago and Palmer moving to Japan. The original group reunited a year later as a three piece minus Carson when Palmer returned from Japan (Matt Carson has since joined the Chicago-based band Miracle Condition.) Their latest album "Three O''clock Target," was released on February 5, 2008 and is their best effort yet. Songs such as "Frenzy" and "Skeletons" are nods to the noisy garage pop of the early Who and Kinks while "Hold On" and "Curtains" show their twisted folk/rock influence. There are heavy doses of drone on songs such as "Doorways" and "Get Off the Farm" as the band heads in a more psychedelic direction.
