Details:
Mae Robertson is known for her warm, crystal clear voice, songwriting that is gentle and true and the ability to interpret songs by others in a way that inspires and gives comfort. With Meet the Sun Halfway, she shines in all three areas. With her simple, straightforward approach, elegant phrasing and tasteful production, Meet the Sun Halfway really shines. Robertson knows how to keep out of a song’s way - the result, as always, is beautiful and compelling.

Mae’s recordings have garnered rave reviews. Billboard magazine says: “Her dusky alto range is a true treat, and she has an understated yet memorable way with a lyric that renders anything she performs worth investigating.”

Robertson wrote the album’s title song with a group of friends who were on a songwriting retreat in Virginia. By chance, they met Phyllis White Dell’Aria, an inspirational 90-year-old woman who was looking for her grandmother’s farm - a place she had not visited since she was 15. From her description, Robertson was able to help her find the spot where the house once stood. The songwriters couldn’t stop talking about this amazing woman, and before they realized it they were writing a song about her. Recently, when Mae performed in northern Virginia, Phyllis, now 93, was able to attend the concert and be the first person to receive a copy of Meet the Sun Halfway.

“The process of making a record is so important and I feel that I have found the right people and the right place to work. My husband Webb and I produced this recording along with Bob Dawson. This is the second project that the three of us have produced. We make decisions together - we work hard, we laugh hard, and the atmosphere in the studio is calm, happy and focused. I feel like my recordings really sound like my own music now.”

Meet the Sun Halfway was recorded and co-produced by Grammy® award winner Bob Dawson at Bias Studios in Springfield, Virginia and features Jon Carroll (Mary Chapin Carpenter) on keyboards, Pete Huttlinger (John Denver, Lee Ann Rimes) on guitar, Steve Fidyk (Maureen McGovern, The Woody Herman Orchestra) on drums and Penny Nichols (Jimmy Buffett, Arlo Guthrie) on harmony vocals.

Over the years, Robertson’s Lullaby & Lovesong Collection recordings have received many awards including: ALA Notable Recordings for Children, Parents’ Choice Gold and Silver, Oppenheim Platinum, Parent’s Guide to Children’s Media, NAPPA Gold and have been named Best of the Year by Child Magazine, New Age Journal and Booklist. The CDs have also been nominated for AFIM Indie Awards.
