Details:
The Space Between Silence...a silent space between a thought and an action...a place where most creative ideas are realized. Many of the musical ideas on this CD came to life by my listening during those silent moments. I''ve tried to translate and communicate those ideas through the beauty of the acoustic guitar. I hope my music touches you in some way.

James Infelt

Biography

James Infelt was born May 8th, 1955. James started playing violin at the age of 7. Shortly after that, he started studying piano at the age of 8. His journey with the guitar started at around the age of 10. Like many of the youth of his day, James played in different rock bands and by his high school years, was out performing regularly throughout Iowa. In 1974 he moved to Columbia, Missouri to study classical guitar and piano at the collegiate level. While a student, he was offered a teaching assistant position at the University of Missouri and at Stephens College. Later, he joined the faculty at Columbia College where he taught guitar for 7 years. Over the course of his teaching tenure, he also studied jazz guitar with Lyle Harris and performed with jazz notables Mike Cantwell, Bob Henry and Greg Solomon.

Upon graduation from college, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he worked as a studio musician for Boyd Hunt Enterprises. His many years in the studio helped James become a very sought after studio musician and producer. After his stint at Boyd Hunt Enterprises, James worked for Excelle Productions in St. Paul, Minnestoa as a producer, writer , arranger and studio musician.

In the early 80''s James partnered with Richard Painter and Associates in Nashville who published many of his songs. James continued to work and write remotely for several production companies and later started his own production and recording studio, 23rd Century Productions. After recording and producing a number of up and coming artists, James decided to concentrate on writing and performing his own work and compositions. His latest CD, The Space Between Silence, is acoustic guitar based but with many other elements blended into an eclectic mix. His innovative use of alternate tunings is grounded deeply in the Michael Hedges, Alex DeGrassi tradition, but James combines his keyboard skills and production background to create a style all his own. James continues to explore new sonic boundaries and is currently working on his 3rd CD due for release in 2009.
