A classic trio combination, piano, bass, voice, looking to fit in and subvert this well-known constellation. Beauty, confrontation, and adventure, teaming up with the expressive possibilities offered within this transparent setting. We want to develop and "write" new songs, using self-written or found texts, absurd, comic, and with a careful dose of pathos, the cliched anguish of emotions, juxtaposed with a sharp edge, and a tongue-in-cheek, and then mixed with the sensibilites of an improvisation. Raw emotional texts, beautiful, poetic, histrionic, and angry, crossing over into vocalise that steers far away from jazz scat singing, but looks for the grooves that underlie it all. We are exploring an electronic level, to see if we can add an additional depth to the acoustic playing. This is not new, but the emphasis is on the how the acoustic and electronic components interact and build on the material to add a fuller dimension. It is not necessary to find something new with this technology, as the technology is so complex,and this complexity is not interesting to us. We are using the electronics and making choices on the spot to create a human world of sound. If we can at least once get the audience to bounce in their seats. or smile at the absurdity of it all, then we have touched the heart of the matter.
