Details:
"Friend Of A Friend is by far the most alternative band in the region. I mean this in the most original sense of the word before alternative became an "in-thing" to call any music! This is a band to follow, watch and keep your eye on!"
-Dave Buco, The Midwest Beat, Aug 2001.

Formerly known as Libbets and then Projekt Mayhem, Friend of a Friend (F of a F) is a four piece pop/alternative/emo-rock band with James Laczkowski on guitar and vocals, Dan Frailich on guitar, Josh Childs on bass, and Nate Bohanan on drums.

F of a F draws its creative drive from James''s views on love and life, as well as the other member''s life experiences. Seeking to venture out further with a sound that versatile and creative, F of a F also branched out into doing instrumentals that are ambient yet energetic.

F of a F likes to experiment, with songs that are as simple as one acoustic guitar and mic, to upwards of 40 tracks of keyboards, distorted drums, effects, and other miscellaneous concoctions.

F of a F began with just one guy and his guitar, but a mutual love of music has brought together this new live line- up to many Chicago land venues including the Muse Café in Lansing as well as the Unicorn Café in Evanston. Avid spectators, fans, and passers-by have compared them to the sounds of a Bends-era Radiohead as well as the recent breakthrough power punk stylings of Jimmy Eats World.

Most recently, they played a truly amazing show at Tower Records that was a near life-altering experience for the band. Although F of a F may have deeply introspective and serious lyrics at times, their live shows are recognized as being fun and unexpected.

Instead of four guys just behind instruments you get a live show complete with a drummer that likes to make his presence known and guitarists that can''t seem to stay still. The band is also known to break into covers, most notably, an audience favorite, The Pixies "Where Is My Mind". For their more recent material which they''ve compiled for a 5 track EP, they''ve described it as getting "forward to basics."

Currently, they plan on fully concentrating on writing and recording in time for a Spring CD release party as well as their massive summer tour. A DVD of their live performances is also in the works with bonus features such as music videos, behind-the-scenes footage, and a video biography.

Featured in the Illinois Entertainer publication. "The title couldn''t be more appropriate. ''Turn Off The TV and Listen To This'' is exactly what you should do, if this CD happens to find its way into your hands." --- Dean Ramos (September 2000)

Featured in NW Indiana newspaper The Times. "Friend Of A Friend is a bit of a sonic flux... but have recently forged the new harder-edged sound akin to the Foo Fighters with a touch of Radiohead."
- Tom Lounges, 6/2/01
Booking Agent of The Muse Cafe, in Lansing, IL.

"These guys get better every time they play, both musically and in terms of the number of people they bring in. They''re definitely on my ''A'' list."
- Chris, 10/31/01

Featured in the Illinois Entertainer publication. "[They] still reach into and outside the realms of pop music to come up with something clever and unique..."
- Dean Ramos (December 2001)
