Calling Simon is the formation of four friends from Eugene Oregon, who set out to use music as a platform to see lives change. In 2002, Justin Dudenhoefer, and Levi Bagge met at the University of Oregon and started using their music as a way to help organizations like, Campus Crusade for Christ, Young Life, Youth for Christ, and Campus Life, reach more people. In doing so, the band slowly grew with the involvement of brother and drummer Christian Bagge, and bassist, Jared Sawyer.
After their first EP in 2004, produced by Chris Stevens, SGT Christian Bagge was called to war and suggested the band continue on with the help of another drummer, Rusty Morris. In 2005 Christian Bagge was involved in a roadside bombing, losing both legs, while Calling Simon was on the "Save the Lost Tour". In the last three years Christian has learned to do a lot without his legs. He''s learned to use high- tech prosthetic limbs. He has run around the South Lawn of the White House with President Bush. He has also become the speaker and front man of the Hero Tour, a series of shows put on by Calling Simon and Sgt Bagge.
Since 2006, Calling Simon and Sgt Bagge have partnered in sharing their music and message to people through out the northwest while releasing their second indie album, Tattoo Stars, dedicated to the spirit and testimony of Christian Bagge. Laural Porter of KGW News, Portland, Oregon stated, "And their music ... it was even better in person. The song Levi wrote for his heroic brother, "Tattoo Stars", gave me goose bumps. Their other songs that praised the Lord and sang of hope and love were not only inspirational, they were rockin''. I brought two "Calling Simon" CDs home with me, and my children ages 12 to 16 loved them!"
After partnering with award winning writer and producer, Ian Eskelin in 2007, Calling Simon and Christian Bagge plan on continuing their calling: using their music to help change lives! The new EP, Radiate, is a compilation of personal experiences that have shaped them into the young fathers and husbands that they are today. Mr. Eskelin states that Calling Simon''s new collection of songs is like a transformation from columbian decaf ...to fire roasted french press coffee!" The band hopes that this new EP will allow their fans to rediscover who God truly is, and how knowing Him, will allow everyone to Radiate! Sound fun? We thinks so too!
