Songs my Uncle taught me was an album that grew out of a mistake. I liked country music, maybe just a phase, but I never thought I would actualy sing standards. My Uncle, Wayne Ouellette, was a torch singer in the 40s and 50s and always tried to impress upon me how important standards were to the birth of american music. Like I said, I like country and had recorded some songs that came out ok, but nothing I would ever publish. In July 2006, I had ordered a particular songs arrangement but ended up getting another song, "I can''t believe that you''re in love with me", Big band style. I was blown away by the arrangement, so I went into the studio to see what it would sound like. Needless to say I was in the wrong genre of music. What you here on the CD is my "mistake" song. My Uncle turned 70 this January (2008) and so I thought it would be nice to record a CD with his favorite songs on it just for his birthday. There was no intention of selling it, or going public with this. But when he heard it for the first time, through tears he encouraged me, along with my wife,Lora, to get this out to the public. So, I hope you enjoy what you hear. Charlie
