Chris Holder is an actor, singer, songwriter and storyteller. For 30 years he has been one of the Northeast’s schoolchildren’s favorite friends. Whether at colleges, festivals, libraries, prisons, retirement centers, schools or historic sites, Chris brings the arts of music and storytelling to the people in over 250 concerts, workshops and residencies annually. He’s appeared on Garrison Keilor’s Prairie Home Companion, performed for numerous radio and TV projects and for seven consecutive years won ASCAP’s coveted Special Award for his songwriting with children. A professional stage actor, Chris appears frequently on New England summer stock stages.
Chris is a multi-instrumentalist, playing the six and twelve string guitars, five string banjo, fiddle, mandolin and his own homemade five string mountain fretless banjo. His three CD’s, Storysinger, Imagination Cruise and Grasshopper Pie all feature guest artists and singers, plus full sing-along choruses on many tunes.
Storysinger is not just an album name – it has been Chris’ business name for over thirty years. Combining traditional American folk music, some contemporary tunes and many of his own original songs with interactive storytelling of folklore, tall tales and hysterical family stories, Chris joins music with storytelling in a charmingly interactive, memorable and often hilarious manner.
