"I hear songs in everything I do, every day" says Danny. "I really am that person who scribbles an idea at 3 a.m. and then try to figure it out the next day"

Danny''s music has roots in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he was raised. During high school, he sang in Gilbert and Sullivan musicals while playing the french horn, Sax,and Tympani just for fun.

His Father owned a "voice of velvet;" his mother, as Danny puts it, "Couldn''t carry a tune in a bucket" Still, she encouraged him to be a part of music and bought him his first guitar, a Sears Airline, when he was 13.

Soon after the teenage band formed, the bass player left. The remaining members scrambled to become the new bass player,Deciding whoever was able to bring a bass and amp to practice would win. Danny was first!

"As his lifetime friend Gary Davis Puts It"

Danny joined my first band, The Coachmen as a rhythm guitarist, when he was only 15 and I was all of 16. He already had more experience than I did-Having played guitar and sax with another group before called"The Fue".

Danny and I became fast friends and when we found ourselves in need of a a bass player Danny realized his secret desire and that was to be a bass man. We headed to the biggest store in Monterey where he bought his first bass, a Danelectro Longhorn, for $90.00
(Now considered a collector''s item and sadly stolen)

Danny wasn''t just a bass player though, where I was the business,He was always the music. He learned all the songs, and then he taught us our parts, arrange the harmonies, and even though He''s not a great drummer, he would sometimes have to teach me the drumbeats! He was a little too much of a perfectionist sometimes-One Beatle song we were doing had a "skip" in his recording. Danny learned the song skip - and would constantly screw it up,laughing at himself everytime.

The biggest goal for any band in the Santa Cruz area was to play the famous "Coconut Grove" and we did, dozens of times. Danny and I decided a new name was in order -So for our first opening night at "The Grove" we were now "English Leather"

After playing all over the Santa Cruz,Monterey, and Carmel area and recording some demos in San Francisco, Monterey and L.A.-I took some of the demos to a friend of mine, the lead singer of "Harpers Bizarre"(Ted Templeman) Who wanted to become a producer and while not impressed with our songs, he did like our band. He offered to set us up in Warner Brothers studio A, with a new song he had secured the rights to by an unknown writer called "Baby Get Your Head Screwed On" Unfortunatly the band broke up at that point Bad Timing on our part: the lead singer for Harpers Bizarre-turned producer became one of the most influencial producers in music history Ted went on to produce the Doobie Bros. Nicolette Larson. Ronnie Montrose. Van Morrison as well as discovering and producing Van Halen By the Way-The Unknown Songwriter--Cat Stevens!!

Danny and I played together for three years and I have played drums for twenty five years with dozens of musicians Danny is by far the most talented I have ever played with. Those were wonderful times that I would go back to in a heartbeat"-"Gary Davis"

And then, Danny attended his first concert by a professsional artist,Jimi Hendrix at Winterland in San Francisco, during the period betweeen Jimi''s first and second album

"My mind exploded! I CAN DO THIS--Danny says.

One night Danny saw the Jefferson Airplane with Jack Cassidy playing bass. he listened and watched with rapt attention,as Jack played around the chords and notes. At that time the legendary bands,Jack Bruce of Cream, Ronnie Wood playing bass with Jeff Beck-before he joined the Stones, and most of all The Beatles left their mark on Danny. Listen to the melodic sounds of Danny''s vocals and you can hear the influence of Paul McCartney.

Through the years, with Danny''s various bands, you will hear the force of his bass, the strength of his vocals, and the inspiring message in his lyrics.

"If I were a painter" says Danny, "I''d only draw stick people.
But musically I can flesh out the bones with my producers help!
"My paint is everything around me. There is so much life everywhere"

Danny never lost the vision of the Sixties, the hope that peace, love and joy would fill the earth.
That music was one way to unite people, to bring them back to what really matters, for all of us to live together in peace.
Listen to the Lyrics

Raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Danny was afforded the opportunity to listen to many of the legendary bands of today, who at that timejust breaking into music. It was here he really began his musical career.

"You could watch Led Zepplin do two shows at the fillmore for $8!"

Southern California found Danny as a bass player, lyricist and singer for "Wildfire", a band that touched the hearts of many people around the world.

"People," Danny wrote, "Listen to what I say."

And they did! Wildfire opened for ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn,The Allmann Brothers,Lee michaels, and dozens of the other well known acts who were then up and
coming

Danny and Wildfire played during the fall and spring semesters in Austin, Texas, where huge crowds of Austinites, calling themselves the "Third Coast," strived to become like the peoople in San Francisco and Greenwich Village.

The next major step for Danny was as a bass player, lyricist and singer with "The Blitz Brothers, the premiere San Diego band that opened for most of the name acts passing through-Cheap Trick-Judas Priest-Jeff Beck, and many more

One night, opening for Tina Turner, Danny was surprised whenTina invited him backstage. "Where did you learn to sing like that," she asked him.

"Listening to you and Aretha, of course," Danny replied.
Tina smiled. Taking advantage of this special moment, Danny asked Tina about herself.

"What do you think is your biggest contribution to music?"

Tina laughed this time and said,

"Well, honey, I taught women how to dance in high heels!"
Needless to say
Tina is Dannys favorite

After his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer''s, Danny moved back home to Northern California where he has cared for his mother at home for ten years. As his mother moved into the last stages of Alzheimer''s Danny was able to once again write the songs he had stored for a decade in his mind

in 2007, Danny joined forces with "Black Rose Productions", based in Long Island, New York. Danny recorded"Atlantis" at Night Flight Productions with his hero John Pandero-The best producer/engineer and friend any musician could have

Danny finds his inspiration in the world around him and the people around him. He writes when and where he hears a song-on an airplane,at a park, but mainly he writes at home where he lives his wife Katy and his mother, Winnie
Although Winnie has lost almost all of her ability to speak and communicate, she surprises Danny and Katy from time to time when she utters words of inspiration and import. the lyrics to "Mama''s Dancing", not yet released,Is a compilation of Mama''s short and infrequent rememberances of speech
She provided the spark for "Hot Mama." And, she still dances in the hall when Danny''s music is playing!

A portion of the profits from Danny James CDs are donated to the Alzheimer''s Assocition. Danny hopes that everyone will realize that
LOVE and UNDERSTANDING Can Work Miracles

Danny''s main inspiration comes from Katy, his wife, his home-studio engineer, and computer maven. it takes only one look at Katy to understand the deep connection she has with Danny and his music.

"It''s all about Katy" Danny says. "She''s my ultimate connection."

The bio of Danny James does not end here, because life goes on
From Danny one more time

"There is no end. Just Katy,Love,Peace, and the Music"

"ENJOY"
