Darin Warner
Darin Warner has lived a life that reads like one of the many country songs he writes and performs. He began life in Box Hill, Victoria, but moved to the gold fields of Western Australia soon after. His father, Peter, a musician, was continually looking for greater opportunities to develop his talents and found them there. From the age of four Darin can remember sitting in front of the stage and watching his father perform, soaking up everything that came his way. His early years were spent with his ear to the record player mimicking singers to the likes of Merle Haggard and George Jones and other greats.
Life changed soon after for young Darin. His parents separated and his Mum, Robyn, moved him and his younger brother and sister to Loxton, South Australia. It was here that Darin grew up and continued to develop a deep love of music, especially country music.
Darin left school early and took whatever work came his way; shovelling manure, painting houses, cooking in a restaurant, working in a service station and being a builder’s labourer. But he never gave up on his first love and at every opportunity he sang and wrote songs.
When he was eighteen he joined the army. This turned out to be a great experience for Darin, giving him the needed discipline to continue on in life. It was during this time that he met his best friend, Tracy, and after leaving the army, they married. They lived in Adelaide for a few years, but then chose to return to Loxton where they are raising their three sons, Jaden, Brodie and Colby.
After receiving an award for song writing in 2006, Darin has gone from strength to strength. In 2007 Darin not only received another award for song writing, but also won the S.A. male vocal of the year at the South Australian Country Music Festival and again at the South Australian Camp of Champs. At the same time he was also runner up in the prestigious Frank Harding Memorial Award for Excellence.
Fresh on the heels of his success Darin headed for the studio to record his debut album ‘Still Pictures.’ Over the past year Darin has been working hard writing and recording a great album containing twelve original songs, as well as finding time to perform at Tamworth’s annual Country Music Festival among other venue’s around Australia.
Through Darin’s life, and especially through the tough times, a motivating force has developed, driving Darin to where he is today. As he looks back over his life, he can see that everything that has happened to him has helped make him into the person he is today, and therefore he wouldn’t choose to change anything. Many believe that with this drive, passion for Country music and his talent as a singer/song writer, Darin Warner is set to have a very successful career within the Country music industry. Congratulations Darin and thanks for keeping to the roots of Country music.
