Details:
Reaching back to his native Wales, David Llewellyn gracefully incorporates the musical influences of his British Isles youth into his contemporary acoustic compositions. An artisan to his core, David has augmented his lifelong music career renovating and restoring old homes. Whether it''s in woodworking or plastering, David''s approach is creative and symbiotic. He is especially renown for his old-world ceiling texturing.

Born in London in 1956, David moved at the age of five back to the small coal mining valleys and tight knit communities of his mother''s South Wales. Surrounded by male voice choirs and the traditional hymns at rugby fields and at school, unknowingly the die was cast for David to eventually become a singer. But it was really singing along with his mother''s Nat King Cole records that taught David how to sing, which you can still hear reflected in David''s style.

Money was tight back then, but at 13 David was promised his first guitar for Christmas. In earnest anticipation of this great gift, David fashioned a piece of wood, with matchsticks for frets and twine for strings to create a makeshift instrument. For two months he practiced chord positions on it so he''d be ready to play his "real" guitar.

The bug had bit and taken hold. In his teens and 20''s David performed extensively throughout Wales and then Europe before moving to Austin Texas in 1991 to pursue songwriting. There David served on the Board of Directors of the Austin Songwriters Group until moving to Nashville in 1996 to sign with a music publisher. Over the years David has established himself firmly in Nashville''s songwriting community and regularly performs and hosts a variety of writers nights.

His new self-titled CD, released in October 2004, is set to establish him nationally with 12 tracks that showcase the breadth of his artistry. David was a Kerrville New Folk Finalist in 2003 and 2004 and is touring his new CD nationally.
