I write music because I love it. Ever since my grandfather bought me a piano when I was six, I knew this is what I wanted to do. I''ve always been interested in the kinds of songs that connect and meet a person where they are in life. When I listen to music, I look for songs that transcend the ordinary and become an extension of the things I''m thinking and feeling. In other words, I listen to music because it''s everything that I am. It can be angry, exposed, incomplete, misunderstood, thoughtful, sad, happy, anything. But there are times when I throw on my headphones in search of that perfect song and I come up empty. Maybe it''s because I cant decide how I feel; I''m just mixed up or I''m having trouble sorting out my emotions, or maybe it''s because no song written by somebody else can embody my circumstance. This is the place where my songs are written: the here and now, when nothing else will do.
When I sit down and write, I do it unabashedly with my heart on my sleeve. I don''t write anything only because it sounds good or because I think someone else will like it, I do it because it quenches a creative thirst inside of me that is only satisfied when I sing. In a way, it''s therapeutic. So when you listen to my songs, I hope that you at least feel the slightest hint of what I felt when I wrote them. If you don''t like them, I won''t mind, I''m not really out to please anyone, necessarily. However, I do hope you support the artists that make music because if they didn''t, they''d go crazy. Music is so much more than the notes on a page and if you just relax and listen closely, I think you''ll understand what I''m talking about.
