In 2006 I began work on this jewel - what would be my third album, Ours Was the Saddest Anime. This CD was recorded at three different times, in three different recording situations.
All the setups were facilitated with the invaluable support of Mike Duncan who helped throughout the entire recording process and completed nearly all of the final mixing.
Round one was in early 2006 when “Ghost on the Subway”, “Open Mike Love Song”, “This Sad”, in addition to a version of “Losing You” were completed. Mike Duncan jumped in on guitar for, “Ghost on the Subway”, as well as laying down one of the intertwining solos in, “This Sad”. I think Chuck Llamar might have played the guitar solo in “Ghost on the Subway”, but I''ll have to check with him.
In January of the following year I recorded the bulk of the album - “I’m Not Going to a Party Tonight Either”, “We’ll Always Have Otakon”, “Red Lights and Movie Stars”, “My Mirror, My Room”, “This Song Never Ruined My Day, You Did”, “This Accident”, “8th Floor Euphoria” and the hidden track (shhh...don’t tell anyone). I had more musicians drop in here or there during round two: Mike Duncan: Guitars, Joe Smith: Vocals, Tom Leitzer: Clarinet, Erin Peach: Saxophone, and Karl Pospisil: Vocals.
I made about ten copies of the album, and started taking karate.
Finally, in August of 2007 I re-recorded “Losing You”, and by 2008 it was actually available on line. So, I guess this is kind of my debut album...in a way :P
