Kevin Cerovich is a rising young talent on the trombone with a rich tapestry of experience under his belt. Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, Cerovich’s very original sound drips with the influence of his hometown heroes. (Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Jay McShann…) His trombone influences range from Curtis Fuller to Robin Eubanks to Carl Fontana.

In 2007, Cerovich took first place at the Eastern Trombone Workshop’s “Solo Jazz Competition” in Washington DC, and was featured as a guest soloist with the US Army Blues Band. Later the same year, Kevin won the International Trombone Association’s JJ Johnson jazz competition at the International Trombone Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cerovich’s original quartet has received much critical acclaim as well, featuring his very unique and soulful composition and arranging.
Aside from all this, Cerovich has gained much touring and recording experience as a sideman, traveling the mid/southwest extensively with various latin bands from Kansas City. Local Gospel prodigy, Isaac Cates featured Cerovich’s arranging talents on his latest release, “Isaac Cates and Ordained.” While at the University of Missouri Kansas City, Cerovich toured Europe in the summer of 2006 with the UMKC Concert Jazz Ensemble. As member of Bobby Watson’s 18th and Vine Big Band, Cerovich has performed with Kevin Mahogany, James Carter, Clark Terry, Karen Allison and Jay McShann, to name a few. Kevin plays with several other of his mentors in various settings as well: Ahmad Alaadeen, Harold O’neal, Brandon Draper, Will Mathews and many more.
